Convert a PDF to Word

Moves the text, paragraphs and headings into a docx you can open in Word and edit straight away. It does not clone the page design, tables or images, and that is exactly what lets it run on your own device without uploading the file.

Frequently asked questions

Will it look exactly like the original page?

No, and we would rather say so plainly. What comes across is the text: paragraphs, headings, right-to-left direction and page breaks. Tables, images, columns and the page design do not. Layout-faithful conversion needs server-side processing, which means uploading your file, and we chose to keep files on your device instead.

My PDF is a scan. Can it still become a Word file?

Yes. A scan is images rather than text, so there is no text layer to move, and the page will offer to read it and build the Word file from what it reads, in one click and without leaving the tool. Recognition runs inside your browser, the file never leaves your device, and how well it reads depends on how clean the scan is.

Does Arabic arrive joined up and the right way round?

Yes. Arabic lines are ordered right-to-left, presentation forms are normalized back to ordinary letters, and the Word paragraph itself is set to RTL. Pick the line-by-line mode if you would rather keep each line as its own paragraph than have wrapped lines rejoined.
