Print several PDF pages per sheet

Save paper and ink before you print: put four pages of a lecture or a report on a single sheet and the copy shop bill drops to a quarter. Text stays text, searchable and selectable, because no page is turned into a picture. Arabic documents read from the top right, the way the paper is actually read.

Frequently asked questions

Are the pages turned into images?

No. Each page is embedded whole into its slot on the sheet, so text stays text and vectors stay vectors. The result is still searchable and selectable, Arabic letters stay joined exactly as they were, and nothing loses resolution when you zoom in.

Why does Arabic start on the right?

Because the sheet is read the way a book is read. On a sheet of four, Arabic reads top right, then top left, then bottom right. Reversed, every page is present and legible and the order is silently scrambled. The direction is a visible setting, so switch it if the document is English.

What does not carry across?

Links, annotations and filled form fields do not, because they belong to the page object rather than to the content that gets drawn. If the file is a filled form, run flatten first so the answers become part of the page, then bring it back here.
