Let us be precise, because the word signature carries more than one meaning. What happens here is that your signature is drawn as an image onto the page, the equivalent of signing on paper and scanning the sheet, and it suits most contracts, letters, and forms people exchange day to day. It is not a certificate-backed digital signature, which cryptographically binds an identity to the document and reveals any later change. If an organization requires a certified signature, or points you at a particular signing platform, use that platform and do not substitute an image for it.
Signing on a phone beats photographing
A signature drawn with a finger on screen comes out clean on a transparent background, while a photographed signature carries the shadow of your hand, the tilt of the paper, and the colour of the lighting, and it often comes back with a request for a clearer copy. If your handwriting is clearer typed than drawn, type your name instead. Then pick the page and position, or sign every page if the contract expects an initial at the foot of each sheet.
A contract is among the last things to upload
A contract carries both parties' names, amounts, and terms, and often an ID or commercial registration number. Your signature is itself data you should not hand to a party you do not know, because an image of a signature can be reused. Here everything runs in the browser: the file is not uploaded, the signature is not stored, and nothing remains with us because nothing reached us.

That depends on the document and on what the receiving party requires, and we do not offer legal advice. What the tool provides is an image of your signature on the page, the equivalent of signing on paper and scanning it. If a certified digital signature is required, use the platform the organization specifies.
How do I stop the contract being edited after signing?
If the contract is a form with fillable fields, flatten it with the flatten tool after signing. To restrict who can open the file, add a password with the Protect PDF tool. No method makes any PDF completely uneditable.
Do you keep my signature for later use?
No. The drawing stays inside the browser and is placed on the file on your own device. We do not store the signature or send it anywhere.
