The core principle

Khallas is built on one principle: your files are yours. Every processing tool runs inside your browser on your own device. Your files are never uploaded to our servers at any stage, and we could not see them even if we wanted to.

File processing

When you use any tool (merge, split, compress, convert, OCR, and the rest), reading, processing, and producing the result all happen in the browser. Closing the page clears your files from your device's memory, and nothing remains with us because the files never reached us.

What is stored on your device

A few features keep data on your own device, never on our servers, and none of it reaches us:

Saved presets: if you save a preset for a tool, its name and options are kept in your browser's local storage. Passwords are never included, they are not saved at all.

Signatures: in the signing tool only, pressing Keep on this device stores that signature's image in your browser's local storage, up to three of them. It happens only when you press it, no signature is kept merely for having been used, and none of them reaches us. Kept signatures are shown inside the tool with a delete button on each.

The OCR tool: on first use, the recognition engine and language model download from our own servers (not a third-party CDN) and are cached in your browser so later runs start faster. The engine reads your document on your device, and the document itself is never sent anywhere.

You can remove all of it at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings.

No accounts, no payments

Khallas is completely free. There is no sign-up, no account, and no paid plan, so we collect no email address, no name, and no payment method, and we hold no purchase data because there is no purchase to hold it for.

Analytics and cookies

We use no third-party analytics, set no cookies, and do not track you across sites.

We measure usage with first-party aggregate counters. When you open a page, and when you use a tool, your browser sends us a short anonymous message. All it carries is the date, the page path or the tool name, and the kind of event, and all it does is add one to a daily counter.

The tool events we count, and this is the complete list: a tool was opened; it was run; it finished; it returned an error; the file itself could not be opened; the file had no text to read; the OCR engine could not load; the site was updated while the page was open; you reached the limit on files per batch; you reached the limit on OCR pages; a share button was pressed after a result; a finished file was carried on to another tool; a search was run on the site; a site search came back with nothing; a tool was rated 1 out of 5; a tool was rated 2 out of 5; a tool was rated 3 out of 5; a tool was rated 4 out of 5; and a tool was rated 5 out of 5. The rating is optional and is sent only when you press a star yourself, and all that reaches us is the number and the tool's name. Your file's name, size, and contents are never included, because the file itself never leaves your device.

What you type into the search box is neither sent to us nor stored. The search itself runs inside your browser over the site's own list of pages, and the counter carries only that a search happened and whether it found anything.

We store no IP addresses and no identifier that links one visit to another, so we cannot follow a person from page to page or tell who visited.

Nothing on the site depends on these counters. If your browser or an extension blocks them, every tool still works exactly the same.

Our hosting infrastructure may keep standard operational logs (such as IP address and user agent) for security and service operation.
