Extract text or convert to Word: which one do you need?
The two tools look similar and answer completely different questions. One hands you the raw text already inside a PDF; the other rebuilds that text as a document you edit in Word. And if your file is a scan, neither helps until a third tool has read the letters off the image.
Start with what you will do next
Choosing between them has nothing to do with which is better and everything to do with what happens afterwards. If you want to move a clause from a contract into an email, search a long report, or paste content somewhere else, extract text is the shorter and more accurate route. If you want a document you open in Word, edit and send on, PDF to Word is the one you mean. And if your file is a scan, neither will help until you run OCR, because a scan holds pictures of words rather than words.
Extract text: faster, more accurate, promises less
This tool converts nothing. It copies the text layer already sitting inside the file, which is why it is quick and hard to get wrong. Arabic gets specific care: lines are ordered right to left, and presentation forms are normalised back into ordinary letters, so what you paste behaves like text rather than a puzzle. You can limit it to a page range instead of the whole file, then copy the output or download it as a TXT file. What it does not give you is formatting, headings or an editable document. It is raw text, which is exactly what many people need without knowing there is a name for it.
PDF to Word: what carries over and what does not
The tool builds a fresh docx from your file's text. Paragraphs, headings and page breaks carry over, with right-to-left direction set on the paragraph inside Word itself. Page design, tables, images and columns do not. We say so plainly because the word convert implies a visual copy, and this is not one: mimicking layout needs server-side processing, which means uploading your file, and we chose to keep it on your device. There is also a mode that keeps every line as its own paragraph instead of rejoining wrapped lines, which helps with lists and stacked headings.
An empty result means your document is a picture
The most common complaint about any converter is a Word file that comes out empty or nearly so. The cause is almost always the same: your document is a scan or a phone photo, so there is no text layer to move. That is exactly the case our OCR tool exists for. Accuracy is high on clean printed pages and drops on handwriting, tilted scans and poor photos, so always check names and numbers.

OCR has two outputs, and the second is less famous and more useful. Instead of handing you the text alone, it returns your file looking exactly as it did, with an invisible text layer over every page it read. The document becomes searchable, selectable and copyable in any PDF reader. The layer is only as accurate as the recognition behind it, so review it on documents that matter.
Frequently asked questions
Does converting a PDF to Word keep the original layout?
No. Text, paragraphs, headings, page breaks and correct Arabic direction carry over; page design, tables and images do not. If you need a visually identical copy, you need a tool that processes the file on a server after uploading it, which we do not do. If what you need is to edit the wording and send the document on, the output does the job and saves you retyping it.
I only want the text. Which tool should I pick?
Extract text. It copies the existing text rather than rebuilding a document, so it is faster and less error-prone, and it gives you either text to copy or a TXT file to download, with Arabic ordered correctly. Choose PDF to Word only when you will edit the document and send it on as a document, not when you are pasting the words somewhere else.
