What the split tool does

The split tool pulls the pages you want out of a long file into a new PDF, or breaks every page into its own file. Type a range such as 1-3,5 to get pages one to three and page five in one file, or switch on split every page to download a ZIP with one PDF per page. Pages are copied as they are, with no recompression and no change in quality.

Splitting runs inside your browser, so a payslip or a contract is never uploaded and never leaves your device.

When you need to split a PDF

A portal asks for one specific page of a long document: the balance page of a bank statement for a financing request, the first page of a lease for an Ejar or Absher service, or a single month's payslip out of a file that holds the whole year before uploading it to Qiwa or a bank. A student splits a textbook into chapters to read one on a phone without loading the whole book, and an accountant pulls one invoice out of the monthly invoice file to send to a client.

Splitting also helps before compressing, since a scan with hundreds of pages processes faster in parts, and before sending on WhatsApp when the full file is over the limit.

How to split a PDF, step by step

Open the split page and drop the file into the tray, or pick it from your device.
Tap the thumbnails of the pages you want, or type their range in the field using numbers, commas and dashes, such as 2-4,7. Choose nothing to take every page.
Or switch on split every page into its own file if you want one file per page.
Click the split button. A progress bar runs, then the result card appears.
Download the result: one PDF named after the selected pages, or a ZIP holding the numbered page files.

Limits to know about

One range produces one file. To cut a file into several parts with different ranges, such as 1-10 and then 11-20, run the tool once per part.
Splitting by size has its own tool, split PDF by size. There is no option here to split every fixed number of pages: the two modes are the pages you choose or every page on its own.
A password-protected file cannot be split directly. Unlock it first with the unlock tool.
Range numbers follow the position of the page in the file, not the number printed on it. The cover is page 1.
One run handles up to three files with the same range, a technical limit rather than a commercial one, and the results download as a ZIP.

Run it through the unlock PDF tool with the current password, then split the unlocked file.

I extracted the wrong page

The number in the range is the page's position in the file, so if the file has a cover and a contents page, the page printed 5 may be the seventh. Look at the page thumbnails once the file is dropped and tap the page you can see instead of typing its number, then run again.

I want each chapter of a book in its own file

Type the first chapter's range such as 1-25 and run, then the second chapter's range 26-48 and run, and so on. Each run takes seconds.

A ZIP downloaded and I do not know how to open it on my phone

The Files app on iPhone and Android opens a ZIP with one tap and shows the page files inside. If you would rather have a single file, type a range instead of using split every page.

The extracted pages are still large

A scanned page carries its size with it. Run the result through the compress PDF tool on the strong level.

How do I extract one page from a PDF?

How do I write a page range?

Use numbers, commas and dashes: 1-3,5,8 means pages 1 through 3, then 5, then 8, and they all come out in one file in that order. Leave the field empty to select every page. Spaces do not matter, and a range that runs past the last page stops at the last page. Tap pages on their thumbnails and the range is written into the field for you.

Can I split every page into its own file?

Yes. Choose Every page under what comes out and click split, and you get a ZIP holding one PDF per page named by its number. A ZIP opens with one tap in the Files app on iPhone and Android and on any computer with no extra software.

Can I cut the file into several parts in one go?

Yes. Choose Several files under what comes out, then name the page each part starts on, like 25,49,71, or tap those pages in the thumbnails. A 96-page book cut at 25, 49 and 71 comes out as four PDFs covering 1-24, 25-48, 49-70 and 71-96, collected in one ZIP, and the list appears under the thumbnails before you press the button. Page 1 always starts the first file, so you never name it.

Is the quality of the extracted pages affected?

No. Pages are copied exactly as they are, with no recompression and no change to fonts, images or orientation, so an extracted page is identical to the original. A scanned page carries its original size with it, and that is when compressing the result with the compress PDF tool helps.

Can I split a password-protected PDF?

Not directly, since an encrypted file refuses to open and you see a message that it is protected. If you know the password, run it through the unlock PDF tool first and split the unlocked file. The same applies to a payslip locked with an ID number or date of birth by the HR system.

Are my files uploaded when splitting?

No. Splitting runs entirely inside your browser; the file is read and its pages copied on your device, and nothing is sent to a server. That is why it is safe for bank statements, contracts and government documents, and it works with no internet once the page has loaded once.
