What the edit PDF tool does

The edit PDF tool is an editor that opens your file inside the browser and puts a layer over the page for you to type and draw on. You can type Arabic or English anywhere, choose its colour, make it bigger, smaller or bold, cover anything you want hidden with a white or black box, add a picture, a logo or a stamp, and draw freehand, highlight, or rule a straight line, each with its own colours and three thicknesses.

On top of that, the Replace-a-line button works on the file's own text: tap the line you want to correct and we cover it in the page's colour and hand its text back in a box, ready to retype in the same place. The page bar under the sheet moves a page earlier or later, duplicates it with everything you drew on it, inserts a blank page after it, or deletes it. Every step has undo and redo.

All of it runs on your device: the file is never uploaded, and a picture you add stays in the browser exactly as the file does. When you press Apply edits, what you added is drawn onto the page as a transparent layer at about three times the page's own size, so typing comes out sharp in print and at any zoom.

From opening the file to the first edit, in a minute

The thing that stops most people here is opening the tool and waiting for something to happen. The order is three steps: drop the file and the first page fills the screen, pick a tool from the bar above the sheet, then tap the spot you want on the page itself. Tapping the page before picking a tool does nothing, and that is usually where people stall.

If you need to write a name or a number in a blank, pick Text, tap the spot, type, then tap outside the box to keep it. If you need to correct a line that is already there, pick Replace a line and tap that line. If you need to hide something, pick Cover and drag a box over it. Anything you add can be dragged to move it, resized from its corner, or deleted once it is selected.

Nothing is written into your file until you press Apply edits at the bottom, so experiment freely: undo takes you back a step, and closing the page leaves your original file on your device untouched.

When to edit a PDF instead of rebuilding it

Most documents in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf arrive as a PDF with no source file behind them: a government form ready to print, a signed lease, an invoice with the wrong name or tax number, a covering letter that needs the office stamp, or a scanned form you would rather fill in than print, complete by hand and scan again. In all of those, editing the file itself is faster than chasing the original.

Students use the editor to annotate lectures and highlight what matters before an exam, and people at work use it to strike out a line in a draft and write the replacement over it, to insert a blank page between two sections, or to drop a spare page before sending. If all you need is a signature, the sign PDF tool is quicker, and if you need to fill interactive form fields, the fill a form tool fits better.

How to edit a PDF, step by step

Open the edit PDF page and drop a single file into the tray. The first page opens on screen with the toolbar above it and the page bar under it.
Pick Text, tap the spot you want to write on, and type, then tap outside the box to keep it. With the box selected you can change the text colour, its size, or make it bold from the bar.
To correct a line already in the file, press Replace a line and tap that line. We cover it in the page's own colour and hand its text back ready to retype in place.
Add a picture, a logo or a stamp with the Picture button, hide something with the Cover button, or draw with the pen, the highlighter or the line tool, then select any element to move, resize, recolour or delete it.
Reorder pages from the bar under the sheet if you need to: move a page, duplicate it, insert a blank page after it, or delete it, and step back with undo whenever you go wrong.
Press Apply edits, then download the file and open it to check every change before you send it.

Limits to know about

What you type or draw is merged into the page as a drawn layer at about three times the page's own size, so it is sharp in print but it is not text you can select or search in a reader. The file's original text stays text exactly as it was.
Replace a line covers the line and retypes it in our font, not the file's original one, and the old text stays inside the file under the cover. It works on native text only, so a scanned page has no text to replace and you type over it directly instead.
A cover box hides, it does not delete: the text under it is still in the file and can be selected and copied. To remove sensitive information for good, use the redact PDF tool.
If you reorder, delete, duplicate or insert a page, the file is rebuilt when you apply, and interactive form fields do not carry over if the file had any, though text and images do. If you only type and draw, your file is edited in place and keeps its fields, links and bookmarks.
The editor works on one file at a time. It is a document editor, not a run over a stack of files.
Pictures can be JPG, PNG or WebP, and they are resampled down when added to what the layer's resolution can show, so a very high resolution photo will not come out sharper. A PNG with a transparent background stays transparent, which is what a logo, a stamp or a cut-out signature needs.
A password-protected file will not open in the editor. Unlock it first with the unlock PDF tool and the current password.

Common problems and fixes

I tap the page and nothing happens

Pick a tool from the bar above the sheet first: Text, Cover, the pen, the highlighter or the line. Tapping the page before a tool is chosen adds nothing, and the Select button is for moving what you already added, not for adding something new.

I typed over the old text and it is still there

Typing adds a layer over the page and does not remove what is under it. Use Replace a line so the line is covered and retyped in place, or cover the line with a box in the page's colour and type over that.

I need information gone, not hidden

A cover box is visual and the text stays inside the file where it can be copied. Open the redact PDF tool and mark the areas you want blacked out; it removes the content underneath rather than covering it.

Replace a line says it found no text

The page is a scan, so there is no text line to replace. Type over it directly with the Text tool, or run the file through the scan to text tool first to get a copy whose text can be selected.

The form fields disappeared after editing

That only happens if you reordered, deleted or inserted a page, because the file is rebuilt in that case. If all you need is to complete a form, use the fill a form tool and leave the page order alone.

The logo or signature has a white box around it

A JPG carries no transparency. Save the logo or signature as a PNG with a transparent background and add that instead, and the background stays clear with the page showing through.

The file is password protected and will not open

Open the unlock PDF tool, enter the current password, edit the unlocked file, then protect it again with the protect PDF tool when you are done if it is going outside your device.

Can I add a logo, a stamp or a photo?

Yes. Press the Picture button and pick a JPG, PNG or WebP file, then drag it where you want it and resize it from the corner. A PNG with a transparent background stays transparent, which is what a logo, a stamp or a cut-out signature needs. The picture stays on your device, exactly like the file itself.

Does it edit the original text itself?

The Replace-a-line button gets you close: tap any line in a text-based file and we cover it in the page's own colour and seed its text ready to retype in place. The retyped line uses our font, not the file's original one, and the original text stays under the cover inside the file; use the redact tool if it must actually be removed. Scanned pages have no text to replace, so type over them directly.

Does a cover box delete the text underneath?

No. A cover box is a rectangle drawn over the page, so it hides what is under it on screen and in print, but the original text is still inside the file and can be selected, copied or pulled out by any text tool. Do not rely on it to hide an ID number, an account number or anything sensitive. To remove the content itself, use the redact PDF tool, which deletes what is under the marked area.

Each has colours and three thicknesses, and any stroke can be selected afterwards to move, resize, recolour or delete it.

Does Arabic come out connected and shaped correctly?

Yes. Text is drawn by your browser's own text engine, so Arabic comes out connected and shaped exactly as you type it, and an Arabic line starts from the right on its own. Many foreign tools break Arabic apart or reverse it because they draw the text with a font inside the file and do no shaping. What you see in the box on screen is what lands in the file, letter for letter.

Why does nothing happen when I tap the page?

Because tapping the page does nothing until a tool is picked. The order is: drop the file so the page appears, press Text, Cover, the pen, the highlighter or the line in the bar above the sheet, then tap the spot you want on the page. The Select button is not for adding anything; it is for moving, resizing or deleting what you already put down.
